In one of the toughest drug operations, NCB Mumbai has seized approx 254 gms of Heroin, 52 gms of MD and 7.5 gms of Cocaine valuing more than Rs 1 crore in illicit market in the night of 12.08.2021.
Acting on a secret input that a gang of Foreign nationals is operating from a forest patch, near Mankhurd area, a team of NCB Mumbai intercepted one Nigerian national namely Obiorah Ekwelar, S/o Ekwelar , R/o 24, Anambra Street, Anambra West, Onisha, Nigeria, at the Back side of Power house, in front of railway track, Mankhurd, Mumbai and seized approx 254 gms of Heroin, 52 gms of MD and 7.5 gms of Cocaine in the night of 12.08.2021.

NCB had received input that a gang of 4-5 Foreign nationals is operating from a forest patch near the Mankhurd railway tracks. They are dealing in variety of drugs including Heroin, cocaine and MD and catering to a large number of Peddlers from Mumbai City and Suburbs. The said gang is very dangerous and carries weapons and machete with them. This gang had become a nuisance for the area. NCB also received information regarding the said gang and gathered intelligence about them. It was revealed that the area wherein the gang operates is swamp area near the Mankhurd railway tracks with creek on one side. After proper planning, on 12.08.2021, the NCB team was successful in nabbing the above named accused while the rest escaped due to difficult terrain and darkness. The gang attacked the NCB team with weapons, machete and stones. One of the NCB officials suffered a head injury while 4 other officials suffered superficial injuries.

This is the second time in past one week that the NCB team has been attacked by the traffickers. This shows that owing to the decisive action against the foreign drug traffickers by the NCB, the foreign drug operatives are becoming aggressive.
