Acting on a secret input that three female suspects, all of them Kenyan nationals, are carrying contraband in their luggage or their body, are coming to Mumbai, a team of NCB Mumbai intercepted the three suspect female Kenyan nationals namely:-
1. Mohamud Khuresha Ali (aged 61 years)
2. Abdullahi Abdia Adan (aged 43 years)

at CSMI Airport on 17 August, 2021. All three were flying from Doha to Mumbai. During their search, nothing was recovered from them. The said suspects were interrogated on the spot and it was revealed that they were feeling uncomfortable and requested for medical help. Accordingly, they were brought to Sir J J Hospital and were under medical supervision since. Medical examination of the three suspects revealed that they have something hidden inside their vaginal and rectal cavity.
Under the care of Doctors, they have discharged a total of 937.78 grams of gold from all three suspects. There were a total of 13 packets containing total 17 pieces of gold. The gold pieces ranged from 20 grams approx to 100 gram approx each. As of now, all the gold pieces have been recovered and the suspects are being discharged from hospital for further proceedings.
As the mandate of NCB does not include seizure of smuggled gold, accordingly, the case has been handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation.
The constant vigilance of NCB Mumbai over International drug trafficking routes into Mumbai has unearthed this modus operandi wherein carriers are being used to smuggle gold inside their body cavity- a pattern similar to drug smuggling inside body cavity. This is the second case of smuggling inside a body cavity by foreign nationals unearthed by NCB Mumbai in the last few days. NCB Mumbai has further increased its efforts for curbing drug menace in Mumbai.
