Jitendra Awhad: Redevelopment of Kamathipura, No bribe for Mhada Jobs
Housing Minister and Sr NCP Leader Dr Jitendra Awhad announced the Redevelopment of Kamathipura and warned candidates – “No bribe for 565 Mhada Jobs”. Kamathipura is the biggest “red-Light” area of Mumbai, is still the biggest but reduced in size because of eviction by Landlords and dilapidated Buildings.
Kamathipura has 39 acres land, 16 lanes, 800 plots, 500 landlords, 8000 tenants. It will be one of the biggest redevelopment projects as Dharavi project has to take off. It is definitely bigger than SBUT project which is covered over 16.5 acres land enduring around 280 buildings in Bhendi Bazar.
MLA Amin Patel wanted more clarity. The tenants and the Land-owners group are willing for Re-development for the right deal. Most of the buildings are dilapidated and in bad condition. The rooms are small 80-150 sq ft , most of them, therefore most of them are willing for re-development.
Meanwhile the MHADA recruitment is on , the biggest recruitment drive during bad times of Lockdown. The Housing Minister warned the candidates to “not fall” prey to bribes being asked, He said there is transparency and poor candidate swill lose their monies. He said, organized racket if brought to his notice will invite criminal proceedings and if need be the exams will be cancelled
