Maha Shinde Govt drops Tipu Sultan name from Malad Playground
Recently there was a row over removal of Tipu Sultan’s name from a popular playground in Malad.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister M.P. Lodha reacted strongly to the existence of Tipu Sultan’s name in a Malad Playground.
News comes to the fore that following discussions by Lodha, with the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Dy. CM Devendra Fadnavis, finally in a controversial move, the name of Tipu Sultan has been deleted from the Malad Playground which was done by the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi government under Uddhav Thackeray.
The name was deleted after considerable protests by Sakal Hindu Samaj and demands by BJP MP Gopal Shetty.
Notably, last year, the previous MVA government had decided to name the park after Tipu Sultan to which the BJP had protested.
