Chak de India Movie influences Simdega girls to take up Hockey

It is learnt that Simdega is considered to be the nursery of hockey in Jharkhand.

Inspired by Chak De India film, in which recently Simdega women’s hockey team participated in Khelo India Youth Games in Gwalior where Simdega Girls participated.

In Chak De India released in 2007 under the banner of Yash Raj Films and based on hockey in which Nisha Nair essayed the role of Soimoi Kerketa as a player from Jharkhand influenced many girls from Simdega some of whom are are real-life Kerketa’s.

RecentlyJharkhand women’s hockey team participated in Khelo India Youth Games in Gwalior where Simdega Girls participated in Hockey.

Now Hockey has emerged as an important game in Simdega Jharkhand like Cricket.

Khelo India Youth Games is being considered as a useful platform for new players, where competitions are held within the system of international standards. Many girls have been showing interest in sports more so Hockey – for them playing Hockey is like playing Cricket.
