However, following couple of years, she went into deep depression and desisted from singing and would not record or move out. She would lock herself in her room. Her mom, brother, her daughter Syesha who was young at that time around was would tell her ‘Mom, everything will be fine. She used to be upset because it was also bothering her, as she saw her in an indifferent mood.

“Pyar Ki Jhankaar”.
Thereafter, there has been no looking back for Alka. She continued to give numerous hits which fetched her prestigious awards.
She further added “No phone calls would often come with offers for recordings. She used to tell mom that she did not want to record’, and she’d tell her ‘this is not how things work, get out and you will be able to cope, and get your mind out of this thing’.
Then Anu Malik called her saying he has composed a ‘we beautiful music for J.P Dutta’s film “Refugee” it, and she has to sing for the same. Alka turned refused saying she.could not, but he came to her house and sat down staging a dharna and said she has to come and record, if she doesn’t, then he will not record’. I said I did not want to and literally, haath pakad ke (he held my hand and) he took me to the studio.”
