Ekta Kapoor steps forward to support Akshay Kumar following “Selfie” debacle

News comes to the fore that following the debacle of “Selfie” Balaji Films honcho Ektaa steps forward to support Akshay Kumar, producer, “Selfie” as the film failed to generate footfall in the theatres and called Tabloid
culture ‘depressing’

She penned a strongly worded message and heaped praises on Akshay and his professionalism. She also called him the most ‘reliable’ actor to work with.

For those unversed, Akshay has been questioned for his film choices as he starred in back-to-back flops lately.

Ektaa’s post comes a day following the theatrical release of the Akshay and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Selfiee hit the theatres. However, the film registered a low start at the box office.

The first day release saw Selfiee witnessing shockingly low collections despite the out-of-the-box promotions and large-scale marketing. It managed to earn only
Rs 3 crore.

Also, the first day collection is reportedly tthe lowest that an Akshay Kumar-film has recorded in over a decade.

The year 2022 proved disastrous to Akshay with all of his films released in the year — ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Bachchan Paandey’ tanked at the box-office.
