Looking Back: Shatrughan Sinha opens up on breakup with Poonam Sinha
In a discreet chat with Arbaaz Khan in “The Invincibles”, Shatrughan Sinha recalls parting ways from wife Poonam Sinha after getting female attention and stardom
Indisputably, Shatrughan Sinha was one of the prolific actors in the 80s and 90s. His catchphrase ‘Khamosh’ garnered iconic status and this catchphrase is still being used by actors in a film or any comedy show.
Notably, Shatrughan Sinha has delivered several hits like Kaala Patthar, Naseeb, Kaalicharan, Dostana and many more. Recently he was at Arbaaz Khan’s talk show “The Invincibles” in which he talked about his filmy days, his admission to FTII, his first breakthrough movie and many more.
Besides his professional life, the legendary actor even spoke about his personal life when he met his wife Poonam at a railway station for the first time. However, before taking the plunge, there was a rough patch when Sinha dumped Poonam after getting female attention and stardom.
At the show Sinha recalled the time when he met a pretty girl her for the first time on a train who was in tears.
He spoke in Hindi saying
He felt like a Godsend. We had no idea what was in store for us and even had no idea that she would study acting, struggle, then become a star, and remain in touch through all of this, until one day. For three years no talks. It was his decision. It was thought at the time that there was something else happening in his life. People thought there was someone else in his life but he never wanted to dwell on that. But it was his fault as he was looking for an exit strategy, and one day, he old her, ‘You’re too good for me, and I can’t be with you’.”
