Obviously it is a very proud moment for India that a Kollywood film RRR made it to the prestigious Oscars with the song Naatu Naatu getting the honours in the Best Original Song category
But, Itsn’t for the first time that an Indian film has won the Oscars. Earlier few Indian films and celebs have bagged the prestigious Oscar Award.
An Indian film is more overtoned than it first appears to be. The creation of commercial motion pictures is just one facet of this glittering, celebrity-studded universe.
Whereas India has produced masterpieces in acting, music, production, and other domains highly accounted universally and has won number of awards for their exceptional work in the film industry.
The Academy Awards referred to as the Oscars, India first won got nominated for Oscars in 1957 when Mehboob Khan’s Mother India got nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
Ever since then, Best Foreign Language Film nominations have gone to films like Salaam Bombay and Lagaan.
Earlier those who clinched the Oscars were Celebrity Costume Designer Bhanu Athaiya, veteran filmmakers Satyajit Ray,
Resul Pookutty and Lyricist Poet Filmmaker Gulzar and renowed Music Composer

Coming to Bhanu Athaiya, the legendary and iconic costume designer, she had an artistic influence on Hindi cinema during 1950 and the 2000 and she was the first Indian to win an Oscar for Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi biopic in the year 1982..
Notably, Hollywood celebrities were clothed by Athaiya Amrapali, Waqt, Brahmachari, Teesri Manzil, Guide, Reshma Aur Shera, 1942: A Love Story, Lagaan, and Swades are among her best-known films.
Urban and rural individuals wore her clothing, which combined Indian and Western styles. She dressed up historical figures like MK Gandhi and BR Ambedkar for biopics.

In addition to his 36 victories at the Indian National Film Awards, Ray also received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest cinematic and civic honours.
Only recently, the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Film was established by the Indian government.
The nation’s numerous cinema organisations are preparing centenary celebrations that will span a full year, but due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, they will have to be virtual-physical hybrids.

Resul Pookutty in the category
For Best Sound Mixing in 2009.
Resul Pookutty is sound editor, mixer, and cinematic sound designer. He won the Oscar Award for Best Sound Mixing because to his efforts on Slumdog Millionaire.
He has also appeared in Hollywood, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam movies. Pookutty made his debut in the world of sound design with the 1997 Rajat Kapoor movie Private Detective: Two Plus One.
But his big debut came with the acclaimed 2005 film Black by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. After that, he worked as a sound designer for a number of well-known movies, including Enthiran Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, Gandhi, My Father,
Zinda, and Traffic Signal.

Gulzar penned the lyrics, displaying his talent once more as the song went on to become a smash even in Hollywood.

Rahman’s work as a film composer was carried out through his studio, Panchathan Record Studio, starting in the early 1990s with the Tamil film Roja.
Rahman’s music for the 2009 comedy Couple’s Retreat won the BMI Award for Best Score.
His score for Slumdog Millionaire (2008) won Best Original Score and Best Original Song at the 81st Academy Awards.
He also took home awards for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 2010 Grammys.
Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga won the Oscars in the
Category for Best Documentary Short film in the year 2023.
The duo bagged the Oscars fof Elephant Whisperers, a Netflix documentary short which won the Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards’ Best Documentary Short prize. They emerged as the the first Indian filmmakers to win an Oscar in a competitive category in 2023.
RRR Naatu Naatu won the Oscars in the Category for
Best Original Song in the year: 2023. “Naatu Naatu” song received the Oscar for Best Original Song. composed by MM Keeravani, with vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava and lyrics by Chandrabose.
