PM Modi Sheikh Hasina jointly initiate ‘India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline’

In a bid to further give a boost to the strategic partnership amidst India and Bangladesh, PM Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina on Saturday through a video conference initiated the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, a cross-border energy pipeline.

While addressing the event,
PM Modi articulated that he is confident this pipeline will further acclerate the development of Bangaladesh and set an exceptional example of the escalating accessibility
amidst both countries.

Notably, this is the first cross-border energy pipeline between India and Bangladesh, built at an estimated cost of ₹377 crore, of which the Bangladesh portion of the pipeline was built at a cost of approx. ₹285 crore, which has been shared by the Govt of India under grant assistance, read Prime Minister’s Office press release.

Whereas under the leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina, in the last In few years, Bangladesh has made creditable progress. Every Indian is proud of that and feel for being able to contribute to this development journey of Bangladesh

PM Modi further added that the India-Bangladesh friendship pipeline was initiated in September 2018, and with the help of this pipeline Northern West Bengal districts will be provided 1 million metric tonnes of high-speed diesel. This will reduce the cost and will also reduce the carbon footprint of the supply.

It is pertinent to note that the inauguration of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline is taking place a day after the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

PM Modi also culminated the fact this rail accessibility amidst the two nations facilitated in sending Covid vaccines to Bangladesh and during the Covid epidemic, sent oxygen etc. through the rail network.
PM Modi heaped praises heartily on PM Sheikh Hasina for her far-sighted vision.
