Shares her bond with Innocent

Veteran Malayalam actor Manju Warrier had shared a passionate bond with Innocent and fondly remembers the long conversations she had with the veteran actor. As per Manju, Innocent would regale her with stories from the past.

Manju attributes that whenever she sees Innocent name on her phone screen, she immediately plugs her earphones and move away from the crowd. His calls were that much entertaining, and she would be laughing non-stop at the other end.

Sometimes the call would go on for hours and if he feels that am he disturbed on something, he will avoid and tell her other stories. If he asks her has she heard them before, she would say no, so that she could listen to them repeatedly.

Manju also reveals that Innocent had called her when she was in Dubai last month, he had called her up. She felt.a bit of tiredness in his voice. He spoke on having difficulty while walking and on forgetting things. After listening to him for some time she asked him if he was weaving stories or telling something seriously. But when he said it was serious, she got shocked

Manju also revealed that she and her brother Madhu, visited Innocent’s home in Irinjalakuda after returning from Dubai. Though quite tired, he kept on talking. He had so many stories to tell as always. When he said he can’t speak like that to everyone she was thrilled. Because she realised that she was one of those few people whom Innocent could tell everything. And that made her very happy.

She further added he would forget a story midway. When the conversation diverted to other things though he started narrating the same story two or three times, he would somehow forget at the same point.
That’s when he said he was getting old and that he was beginning to forget things.
So she told him she will return next week to hear the same story.

For the first time, she saw sadness in his eyes. When her father who had cancer was on the verge of death, she had seen the same sadness in his eyes. But he was a fighter, and always kept his head high. So there was a natural disappointment for someone like that when he feels tired. Similarly, Innocent Uncle stood everywhere with his head high. He would invite her home when there was some festival (Pindi perunnal).

He would always ask her when she would be coming, or not? And there was some special happiness in going to his house.
When she told him that she had purchased a bike, he reminded her that we had ridden a scooter during ‘Ennum Eppozhum.’ And we laughed a lot recalling that incident. Before ending the call, he told her to be careful while riding the bike.

Alas, that was his last words to her.
