Producer Mahaveer Jain is of the firm belief that stories rooted in Indian philosophies and culture find global attention and Padmaavat was one such film which could have competed for the Academy Awards.
SS Rajamouli directorial RRR’s Oscar honours and the laurels it has garnered globally has opened the eyes of some of Bollywood’s big budgeted filmmakers. To cite a couple of them is Veteran Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mahaveer Jain.
According to Mahaveer Jain producer of Bhansali directorial “Padmaavat” the film could have been a front-runner at the Academy Awards.
Obviously Oscars have always been the furthest up honour for any actor and actresses. For most of them it is a dream and a reality for a few. Recently, stories rooted in our Indian culture have garnered the attention of the entire world.
For instance, RRR was apathetically Indian in its style making and storytelling wise.
It was lapped on by the Indian diaspora across the globe.
Ironically, a huge chunk of an audience outside it too.
Internationally it penetrated among the international locals, who enjoyed re-creating its songs, scenes and dialogues.
The film broke digital records as it became the only non-English film to trend in the top 10 list for over 18 weeks, on its streaming platform. The song Naatu Naatu charted globally and eventually won India it’s first Oscar in Best Original Song category.
