Kajal made her acting debut with the Hindi film Kyun Ho Gaya Na in 2004 but her first lead role was in the 2007 Telugu film Lakshmi Kalyanam. She gained recognition SS Rjamouli’s Magadheera in 2009 and starred in several hit films in Tamil and Telugu.
Kajal has appeared in several Hindi films like Special 26, Singham, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, Mumbai Saga and others.
She was last seen in the Tamil film Ghosty and will next be seen in films like Uma, Indian 2 and Karungaapiyam.

She was addressing the audiences at the event of CNBC’s Rising India 2023, when the host asked her what are the differences she felt between Hindi and South film industry, and is the South Indian film industry more accepting? To which she replied, “South is definitely very accepting and I prefer the values, the ethics, the ecosystem and the discipline of South Industry which I feel is lacking in Hindi cinema”.

This is not the first time an actor has been trolled for his or her Bollywood vs South comment, before this, Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham and even the RRR director SS Rajamouli were trolled for their opinions on the row.
Ironically enough, Kajal had debuted in the film industry with the Hindi film Kyun! Ho Gaya Na…alongside Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Bachchan.
On the work front, Kajal has 3 projects in her pipeline, which includes one Tamil film with Kamal Hasan titled Indian 2, one Telugu and a Hindi film.
