PM Modi pays obeisance
to His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu on his Jayanti
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st April paid obeisance to
His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu on the special occasion of his Jayanti.
Taking to his twitter handle, the Prime Minister wrote:
“On the special occasion of his Jayanti, I bow to His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu.
Swamiji has left a deep impact among millions. He always placed utmost importance to serving society and empowering people.
We will always work to fulfil his dreams.”
For those unversed, Shivakumara Swami was an humanitarian, spiritual leader, educator and supercentenarian.
He was a Veerashaiva Lingayat religious figure. Swami had joined the Siddaganga Matha in 1930 Karnataka and emerged as head seer in 1941.
He was also the founder of the Sri Siddaganga Education Society.
Hailed as the most esteemed adherent of Lingayatism he was referred to as Nadedaaduva Devaru (walking God) in the state.
In 2015, Swami was honoured with the Government’s
Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award.
