Looking Back: Danny Denzongpa refused to work with Amitabh Bachchan
Notwithstanding they were good friends, yet Danny refused to share screen space with the now legend of the Indian Film Industry Amitabh Bachchan for the simple reason he wont be noticed. He even turned down an offer from veteran filmmaker Manmohan Desai for Mard and Coolie.
He revealed this in his candid interview to a film magazine in 2018. He also revealed he refused four films with Amitabh Bachchan.

Danny and Amitabh starred together for the first time in Agneepath. Since then they have worked in many films such as Hum, Khuda Gawah, Kohram, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo, and Uunchai.
In his interview to the film magazine Danny had articulated that , he kept holding himself back from working with Amitji.
He thought here’s this huge actor, who gets the best roles. No one would notice him if he was in the same frame with him. If the film was a hit, all credit would go to him. But if it flopped then the ‘new’ guy would be blamed.
He had added, “Once he was at Film City where Manmohan Desai was also shooting. He went on his knees and teased him in front of everyone, ‘Sir, please do a film for him. Danny hit back ‘Sochenge (he will think about it)!’ He would tell Manmohan Desai that he is dragging the industry back by 20 years (hinting at Desai’s fantastical cinema). You give one super-hit and 10 other guys follow him’. Manmohan Desai would give him the choicest gaalis (abuses). But he was a straightforward person. Danny speaks the truth no matter how bitter!
Danny made his debut with Zaroorat in 1972. He has featured in many years in the last few decades such as Dhund, 36 Ghante, Bandish, Dharmatma, Jeeo Aur Jeene Do, Dharm Aur Qanoon, Fakira, Chor Machaye Shor, Devata, Kalicharan, Bulundi, Adhikar, Jai Ho, Naam Shabana, and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi among others.
Danny was last seen in Uunchai an adventure drama film directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, and Sarika.
