Pamela Chopra, wife of legendary filmmaker late Yash Chopra passes away at 74
YRF honcho Aditya Chopra and brother Uday Chopra were saddened as their mother Pamela Chopra breathed his last in an Hospital on Thursday at 74. She was cremated at around 11 am. Even Rani Mukherji wife of Aditya Chopra was shaken up over the sad passing away of Pamela Chopra.
No sooner the news of her death spread, celebs poured in their tributes for her and also shared their fond memories.
Anushka Sharma, Javed Akhtar, Raghav Juyal, Ashoke Pandit and several other celebs condoled Pamela’s demise.
YRF released an official statement which read,
“With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”
Sharing the statement, Anushka Sharma wrote, “RIP Pam aunty”.
Veteran screenwriter-lyricist Javed Akhtar remembered Pamela as “intelligent, educated, warm and witty.”
Singer Amaal Malik recalled how Pamela used to take care of everyone at YRF studios and would check if people were eating and resting wll.
Pamela was a mother to two sons, Aditya Chopra, who has now taken on the reigns of Yash Raj Films, and Uday Chopra, who dabbled in acting and filmmaking.
Pamela was a film writer in her own might and was also a playback singer.
She has been credited as the writer for ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, and has recorded songs for films like Noorie’, ‘Kaala Patthar’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’.
