Purchasing a house is one of the most important milestones in life and owning a house in a city like Mumbai is a dream come true.
In a bizzare incident, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police arrested two developers namely Dharmesh Jain and Rajiv Jain, of Nirmal Lifestyle for allegedly failing to hand over the flats to homebuyers even after taking money from them.
Reportedly, 34 home buyers had paid for houses in Olympia, Panorama and Spirit, more than a decade back in 2011.
Mumbai Police Officials report that they have arrested the two squandering developers Dharmesh Jain and Rajiv Jain, of luxurious Nirmal Lifestyle home for their alleged failure to hand over the flats to the said homebuyers despite of having taken money from them.
The Mumbai Police further claim that they arrested the duo developers on the basis of the complaint received from the said 34 homebuyers who had paid for houses in three projects called Olympia, Panorama and Spirit, more than a decade back in 2011 neither got possession nor the project has come into existence.
As per EOW police official on anonymity, makes it known that Developers Dharmesh and Rajeev Jain courted arrest in connection to First Information Report (FIR) filed in April 2022. They were produced in local court and have got police custody till May 03.
The lenders including Bank of Baroda have also approached NCLT against Nirmal Developers, over unpaid dues worth hundreds of crores.
It is ironic that even after
having housing complexes across Mumbai, the developers
Dharmesh Jain and Rajiv Jain
haven’t been able to hand over possession because of financial trouble.
