There is no doubt of the fact that Geeta Kapoor is an accomplished and a wizard in choreography.
In her recent interaction with the media, she elaborated on the newness she is looking at in the third season and her bond with Terence
Choreography wizard Geeta Kapur, who is among the panel of judges with Terence Lewis and Sonali Bendre on the dance reality show, ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 3’, shares her feelings on judging the show alongside Sonali whom she had choreographed earlier.
Geeta also attributed on the
newfangledness she looks for in the third season and her camaraderie with Terence.
On working with Sonali is always a humble experience and sitting next to her is a mix of unreal and surreal because she feels like she really came to this place to sit next to her. She is always humbled to sit next to those who are so great in their own way, and feels like she didn’t get there, but she has the opportunity to sit next to them.
After having judged the earlier seasons of ‘India’s Best Dancer’, when quizzed what new she is looking for at the contestants in this season.
As per Geetha, many dancers get lost in just learning art or dance forms and lose their personality somewhere in between when we watch our Bollywood movies and look at ionic characters like Madhuri Dixit or SRK. That’s why needs to see a dancer who also brings out his/her unique personality through the dance form.
On judging the show with Terence again and her friendship with him, the equation is different because we are friends, we grew out of two random people who came from two different places and are now very close. We did many shows together and also created a nice bond and at the same time try to create a nice bond in the meeting. Geetha likes to sit in the panel and love pulling his leg and he doesn’t mind her joking with him.
On the global dance scene, how does she o map Indian dance styles, Geeths mentions that it gives a feeling of happiness that we are now on the world map since people welcome us, our artistes and our dance form. And we are really overwhelmed that our culture is projected the world over.
