Death threats to Sameer Wankhede wife Kranti Duo seek security amid Aryan Khan case probe
Sameer Wankhede has recently been gripped in tension ever since the Aryan Khan case probe. It is learnt that he and his wife are receiving threats for life since the last four days. This comes after the Bombay high court provided Sameer Wankhede protection from arrest till Monday 22 May 2023. His appeal against the ₹25 crore bribery case will be heard today.
Speaking to the media, the IRS Officer and former NCB Chief Sameer Wankhede intends to dash off a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansilkar about it and demand special security. His case in the Bombay High Court comes up for hearing today.
As the zonal chief of the Narcotics Control Bureau till 2021, Sameer Wankhede led the investigation in many high-profile Bollywood cases, including the drug angle of Sushant Sigh Rajput’s death case and the dugs on cruise case in which Aryan Khan was arrested.
It is learnt that the CBI has filed an FIR against Sameer Wankhede for allegedly making a bribe demand of ₹25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan ensuring not to press charges against Aryan Khan. Out of this bribe amount, ₹50 lakh was received. The transaction was executed by KP Gosavi whose selfie with Aryan Khan had gone viral.
However, CBI alleges that KP Gosavi is not an insider of the NCB and was given a free hand by Wankhede in the case.
Several other irregularities have been levelled against Wankhede including discrepancy amidst his income and lavish lifestyle, undisclosed property, transaction etc. And Sameer Wankhede dismisses all these allegations saying much of wealth and property are ancestral.
Sameer Wankhede’s purported chats with Shah Rukh Khan
took a sensational turn when Wankhede produced a transcript in the Bombay High Court of his purported chat with Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan’s father. In those chats while Shah Rukh Khan requested Wankhede to be kind to his son, there was no mention of the bribe. Shah Rukh Khan also praised Wankhede’s integrity as a government officer. But, according to NCB officials it is a violation of rules for an investigating officer to engage with the family member of an accused.
The veracity of the chats are also being questioned as some reports claim that Shah Rukh Khan does not use WhatsApp.
