The IPL 16 final amidst Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium was originally scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 pm on Sunday, May 28.

But, due to relentless rain and hailstorms, the match officials decided to push the game to reserve day, which was Monday, May 29.

Even as on the reserve day, the match kicked-off at the scheduled time and Gujarat Titans, after put into bat first, posted 214/4 on the board, the highest total by a team in a final of the IPL.

However, the chase got cut short, as rain interrupted play and CSK were 4/0 after just 0.3 overs.

Notwithstanding the rain stopping early, the match had a long delay because of a huge patch of water on one of the practice wickets, which took a long time to be deemed fit to play.

In the end, the play resumed with reduced overs at 12:10 am, which is Tuesday, May 30. The fans took to social media to mock that the game spread over three days, while a few even called it longer than a Test match.
