Pakistani people are angry at actor Javed Sheikh’s recent comment that he did not charge any money for Om Shanti Om, in which he played Shah Rukh Khan’s father.
Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh’s recent comment amid an interaction with the media that he did not charge anything to do a role in Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Om Shanti Om” has not gone down well with a few of his countrymen and women.
The actor, who played Shah Rukh Khan’s father in his 2001 movie Om Shanti Om, has revealed how much he charged for his work in the movie.
Javed Sheikh had essayed a role former Shah Rukh Khan’s father in Om Shanti Om.
Amid the media interaction when he was asked about his experience working on the Farah Khan film and he was finalised for the film and later, there a discussion followed
Over his payment. Javed added that their manager approached him to sign the contract and what will be his fee; Javed explained ‘yes’ and that he won’t charge for his role.
Javed further added that7 firstly it’s a matter of honour for him that he is playing Shah Rukh’s father in his biggest film ever. India has so many actors. You choose anyone and they will be ready to take on this role. But Shah Rukh and Farah Khan choosing him being a Muslim is a thing of honour for Javed. That’s precisely the very reason he never accepted any money.

They had a long discussion on it then Javed finally suggested to him to inform Shah Rukh that he will take just one rupee and that he is not joking.” Then, the film’s team decided how much Javed should be paid. When they sent him the first cheque, it was shocking itself.
As per website Reviewit.pk, Javed got some less than favourable reviews for his comments. Many thought he had no self respect to be asking no money for his hard work.
Javed Sheikh’s other roles
apart from Shah Rukh Khan Gauri Khan produced film “Om Shanti Om”, “My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves” and “Namastey London”, in which he played Upen Patel’s father.
When he was asked if Pakistani actors will work in Indian films again, he said, “Our political relations with Hindustan are not well these days, ever since BJP came into power. Maybe it will be better if a party other than BJP comes into power.”
