Dinesh Karthik opined India can’t win WTC Final on Day 5
Dinesh Karthik forrmer Cricketer doesn’t hold much hope for India’s chances of winning the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia.
Karthik believes that the Indian team faces a difficult task, especially considering the challenging pitch conditions at The Oval.
While sharing his perspective on Cricbuzz, Karthik conveyed, that in his opinion, India’s chances of winning the WTC seem bleak. This might be disheartening for fans. The challenging pitch conditions imply that even a score of 60 or 70 runs could become inconsequential when facing a challenging delivery.
Karthik even attributed India’s challenging position to their performance on the first day of the match. He highlighted the significant contribution of Steve Smith and Travis Head, who helped Australia reach a substantial first innings total of 469 runs.
Despite Shardul Thakur and Ajinkya Rahane’s partnership kept India in contention, their final score of 296 fell short by 173 runs.
Karthik also noted the unpredictable nature of The Oval pitch, which has caused difficulties for batsmen such as Labuschagne, Rahane, and Shardul. He also pointed out that the low bounce of the ball increases the likelihood of LBW and bowled dismissals further denting India’s chances in the one-off final.
The sub-continent team needs 280 runs in 97 overs Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane are at ybe crease.
