Sarfaraz Khan, 24, has been in the form of his life. The youngster from Mumbai scored 982 runs from six matches in Ranji Trophy, at an unbelievable average of 122.75, including four centuries and two fifties.
He was named the Player of the Tournament for his effort.
In his column in Mid-day, Gavaskar has put pressure on the selectors for the inclusion of Sarfaraz in the Indian Squad.
He added, earlier, Sarfaraz has knocked the doors of the selectors hard, and it would be a real surprise if he is not picked for the next Test series.
Dilip Vengsarkar is furious at selectors for not picking Ranji star.
Meanwhile, Gavaskar names a few that have impressed him in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season.
“Rajat Patidar was impressive for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji campaign. He is a brilliant player.”
His first-class average stands at 80.42, which is second to Don Bradman’s tally of 95.14.
