The BCCI plans to hold its apex council meeting on July 7, when several agendas will be made and key decisions will be held ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023, which begins in three months time.

Notably, One of the top-most priorities for the Roger Binny-led board is to look into the new trend of Indian players hanging up their boots to play in the overseas leagues.

Recently, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement but will partake in the MLC, which has baffled the Indian board.

Besides Rayudu, the likes of Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan, and a few other players are seen playing in overseas leagues. The Board reportedly is looking to stop this trend and enforce a law where retired players must go through a cooling-off period before they can participate in other leagues.

One of the franchise owners reacted to the news and expressed his displeasure over the speculated move. “If the board brings in a cap on players to not play in other leagues, then their playing years would anyway be over if they have to wait for a certain period after retiring.”
