In a new political twist, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar took oath as Second Deputy Chief Minister, at Raj Bhavan,
on Sunday July 2, 2023.

At the swearing-in-ceremony Senior Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif and Sharad Pawar’s close confidant Dilip Walse-Patil, were also sworn in as Ministers ini the Shinde-Fadnavis-Pawar Government.
Dhananjay Munde, Aatram Dharamaobaba Bhagwantrao, Aditi Sunil Tatkare were also sworn-in as Ministers by the Governor.

Senior NCP leaders, including Praful Patel, Munde and others were also present at the swearing-in-ceremony.

As against the total 53 NCP MLAs in the State, 30 are apparently with Ajit Pawar, who is the leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.

A top NCP leader from Sharad Pawar’s “camp” reveals that “Sharad Pawar is not supporting Ajit Pawar. Chhagan and Praful bhai are also not on their side.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut tweeted “A group of individuals has taken it upon themselves to initiate the cleanup of Maharashtra politics. Let them proceed with their efforts. Recently, he had a conversation with Sharad Pawar, who expressed his confidence by saying, he is strong. We have the backing of the people. Together with Uddhav Thackeray, they will rebuild everything anew.’ Indeed, the people will not endure this charade for an extended period.

The development comes shortly following Ajit Pawar’s meeting with senior NCP legislators at his residence in Mumbai.
