Moushmi Chatterjee and Reena Roy appeared at The Kapil Sharma Show on Sunday 2 July.
Moushmi was hilarious and at her best. She never spared Krishna who imitated Jeetendra and some of his dialogues were not liked by Moushumi. Even She was witty with one member from the audience. Kapil enjoyed it
Infact, the latest episode of the Show was a tribute to the 70s era with Reena Roy and Moushumi Chatterjee. Kapil invited them onto the stage by singing their iconic songs. Kapil, for the first time, had to keep quiet on his own show with the witty and fun remarks of Moushumi Chatterjee. The actresses had some interesting anecdotes from their acting days.
She said there were no waterproof liners back then, we shot Rimjhim Gire Saawan in actual rain.
Kapil talked on the famous song Rimjhim Gire Saawan, Moshumi shared a fun anecdote from the shooting of that song, “Bachchan Sahab is a very very intelligent man, he knew that he had to match with her so he used to take small steps. It was actually raining in Mumbai. She went on to add that she remembered that in those days there was nothing like waterproof liners so after each shot all her makeup would drain on her face and all of them would laugh. So with each take, she had to redo her makeup. She had worn a chiffon floral saree in the song, leaving all its imprints on her body. She couldn’t even hear the song and dance to the signs given by the director through a kerchief adding further, thank God she never wore wigs, or else she felt that day even the wig would have gotten ruined.
Age wise she was older than her elder sister and husband.
While in 10th standard she got engaged. Her aunt was suffering from the last stage of cancer and she wanted to see her married and she was a minor. That is why you wouldn’t find the right birth date of her
It is different in the passport, marriage certificate, school and all. So her father-in-law Hemant Kumarji asked her family to change her age for the wedding to be legal. With the confusion of birth date, she was like no problem at least she was born.
Moushumi.made it known that the film Anurag transformed her life.
She came into the industry after getting married and had not come to Mumbai to make a career. She got married at a young age due to the circumstances, so when she came here the eminent directors were her father-in-law’s friends and they had a script so they convinced him to let het act. She didn’t know her first movie would become a silver jubilee.
On Jeetendra, she said he was the most punctual and hardworking actor and was hardworking..He was the producer’s actor, that’s why he used to report to the sets. For a 9:30 am shoot, he would be ready at 8:30 am. Even for outdoor shoots he would be an hour early and call us from the reception to come downstairs. That is why he sustained because of his hard work. Those days there were two types of actors, one like Jeetuji who would be over-punctual and other actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, and Shatrughan Sinha wouldn’t even reach till pack-up time.
Today’s heroes don’t look like a hero anymore.
Rajesh Khanna couldn’t memorize dialogues at all, his assistants used to hold placards for him, while Shatrughan Sinha was someone who could memorize a 5-page script in minutes. If there was someone extremely stylish then it was Feroze Khan, Shashi Kapoor. With physique, Vinod Khanna was very handsome. Pehle ke hero ko aapko bolna nahi padta tha ki ye hero hai, dikhta tha ki hero hai. Abhi toh baaju mein ho aur poocho hero kaun hai, toh dusra bolega, ‘Chup, baaju mein hi toh hai’.
Her husband was ready to divorce her for a snake
She had done a film by Dulal Guha where a cobra came on the sets of Zehrila Insaan with Chintuji and Neetu Singh. She caught that cobra and Chintu screamed to to her husband, ‘Babu Babu Moushumi ne snake pakda hai’, he was bathing and he ran in a towel towards her. Her husband said, ‘Snake chhod do, she will divorce him. ‘Chalega, she won’t leave the snake.’
Whereas Reena Roy said that Rekhaji, Ashaji refused to do Naagin.All heroines refused to do Naagin, they went to Rekhaji, Ashaji and all the renowned heroines. They offered her the film as she knew dancing, so when she was approached she agreed to do it because of a different script. After the film fans were afraid of her so they used to stay away instead of mobbing her.
Kapil’s father once guarded Reena Roy in Chandigarh
Kapil shared how his late father was awestruck by Reena Roy, his father once told him he had come to watch a match in Chandigarh. He described that he looked like a fairy coming ou of a white car, in a white saree and black sunglasses. She saw that fire in his eyes as he further shared that he complained about the inspector whose duty was set for you and he replaced him just to be around you.”
Moushmi further added how she ran away from the sets of Balika Badhu
the first day she felt she was a big heroine but the next day when they put makeup on het face and the costumes were styled in such a way that she looked like a teenager. She felt like leaving, outside the studio there was a bus stop. She escaped from the shoot in the bridal costume and boarded the bus and asked the person sitting next to her to lend her some money for the ticket and reached her aunt’s place. She was a lawyer back then and people were scared of her. After getting down from the bus she caught a rickshaw and reached her place. When she started crying, her aunt updated her father that she had come here after running away from the studio.
Reena went on to add that she had immense love for Rajesh Khanna- Reena Roy had a huge crush on her and her mother strictly stopped her from watching his films. She said, “As a child, she had immense love for Rajesh Khanna’s movies, and her infatuation drove drove to take some drastic measures. Instead of going to school, she skipped classes to gather with her friends outside Rajesh Khanna’s house, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. Her obsession went so far as to take her sister’s piggy bank and spend her own pocket money on watching his films. However, fate had its way, and she eventually entered the film industry herself, leading to the incredible opportunity of meeting and working with Rajesh Khanna. Life truly has a remarkable way of fulfilling our deepest desires..She concluded.
Reena Roy also revealed that the actors who were generou with spending money
Reena Roy reveals the actors who were generous with spending money.
No actor would come to the sets with their purse. But she had seen Dharamji, Vinodji and Feroze Khan treating their crew members with some money. Apart from them, no renowned
actor was this generous. They were the only ones who always treated the ones and took care of them.
