Ameesha Patel claims Rani Mukerji not heroine of ‘Mangal Pandey: The Rising’
Amid an interaction with a portal, controversy ridden Ameesha Patel claimed that Rani Mukherji wasn’t the heroine in ‘Mangal Pandey; The Rising’. The Ketan Mehta directorial featured Aamir Khan
and Rani Mukherji who played the role of a widow who gets rescued from a sati ritual by
Toby Stephens, a British character.
On sharing about Rani’s role, Ameesha asserted that in
“Mangal Pandey”, Rani.wasn’t the heroine of the film. When Aamir narrated her (Ameesha), the subject, she was opposite the British actor Toby Stephens, and it was only one love angle.
Whereas, Aamir had a love angle with a British actress, who gets jealous in the middle. That’s precisely was the very reason for the roughly edited film. Rani was only supposed to make a guest appearance for one song. That’s it. Adding that mid-way through the filming,
Aamir had a feeling that there is one love story with a British actor. Merely from one item song, Rani ended up having a Holi song with her (Ameesha) who never turned soar about it. In fact, she would always say on set, “hey? Why are you so thin, tell me.
She felt discomforted over Rani’s typical style of talking and she (Ameesha) would be sitting, talking while looking prim and proper. You need to be secure with yourself, leave whatever they want to talk about and just do your job.
