After the split of Shiv Sena and NCP, the next split in Maharashtra is Congress in the line to face the sharp end of the dagger, as according to BJP, two key leaders of the Congress have been in talks with the saffron party leaders and discussions have been on for a while and is now in an advanced stage.
This sudden development comes after Ajit Pawar joined the Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis-Led Government and was sworn in as the Second Dy.Chief Minister of Maharashtra om Sunday 2 July at the Raj Bhawan.

This would only add to the defection woes, Maharashtra’s partisan politics have been facing since Eknath Shinde’s sensational mutiny brought on a governance change in the state.
Earlier on Tuesday, Forest Minister of Maharashtra, Sudhir Mungantiwar had informed a news agency that several leaders in Congress are ‘are unhappy with their parties because of the selfish attitude of the leaders.They create obstacles on the path of nation’s progress and they don’t want Prime Minister Modi – just like what China and Pakistan want.
Congress has also taken stock of the situation and has heavily guarded its MLAs since the news of Ajit Pawar’s rebellion broke. As per Maharashtra’s former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan BJP had tried to break the Congress earlier also.
Meanwhile, Congress, who has been demanding the Leader of Opposition seat, that was left vacant by nephew Pawar, be handed over to them. Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Balasaheb Thorat talked about it to a news avency. Meanwhile, NCP named Jitendra Awhad as the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra cabinet.
