Shinde Sena MLAs and Uddhav camp MLAs served notices over disqualification pleas
In the backdrop of receipt of Shiv Sena’s constitution from the Election Commission,
Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar issued notices to 54 MLAs – 40 from the Eknath Shinde camp and 14 from the Uddhav Thackeray.
He has sought their responses in the disqualification petitions against them and have given the MLAs seven days to respond and to submit all necessary evidence to avoid action against disqualification.
In June last, Eknath Shinde and other 15 MLAs led a rebellion against then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, resulting in the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
The court hearing of the disqualification petitions of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs, including Eknath Shinde, is set to be held soon.
