Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar came down heavily on the English commentators for their remarks on Indian fans in the midst of the ongoing Ashes 2023.
Notably, the home supporters were seen cheering only when the Ben Stokes-led team played well.
The commentators were backing the hosts to win the contest regardless Australia’s exceptional performances amid the first two games of the series.
According to Gavaskar, it’s normal for local fans to support the home players, but to claim that it only happens in India is absolutely incorrect.
As per the legendary cricketer, It is not an Indian phenomenon as it takes place in every nation.
The crowds will support their own players and won’t cheer rivals, but to say that it happens only in India is simply ridiculous. This occurs everywhere and not just India further added Gavaskar.
