This actress lived in chawl even after Bollywood debut, has worked with Sanjay Dutt, Rajkumar Hirani, Mammootty

It has not been an easy task for several actors and actresses to be successful and earn name, fame and wealth overnight. They had to struggle to reach reach the top.

One such Marathi actresses identified as Priya Bhatt.
From spending her childhood to her marriage, the actress lived in a chawl at Ranade Road, Dadar for as long as 25 years.
Born on September 18, 1986, the actress had made a name for herself in the entertainment industry.

This is despite having worked with renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani helmed film
Dr. Munnabhai MBBS with
Sunjay Dutt.

Over an interview with a leading english newspaper, Priya recalled living in a chawl and celebrating Diwali together to playing games with her friends during childhood days. She makes it known that the very chawl she lived in as gave her a lot of memories to share.

She further went on to add that , the specialty of the chawl was, all the houses on a floor were connected to each other internally through doors. So it was easily possible to go from one house to another without getting out of the house.
This system kept all the families on the floor connected to each other. Also, she feels that nowadays, the apartment system has created distance amidst people.

Amid the course of the interview when sked what she likes more, a luxurious apartment or a chawl, it was the actress’s reply that it depends on the needs of a person. The needs change with the development. She now lives in a luxurious apartment but still, chawl is her first love.

Priya made her debut with the movie “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, and is best acknowledged for her roles in movies like Kaksparsh and Aamhi Doghi, for which she was honoured with the Best Actress award at the Screen Awards in 2013. She is also the proud winner of the Best Actress Maharashtra State Award for the movie “Happy Journey”.

Priya has also featured in web series like City of Dreams and her recent work includes Maniesh Paul starrer Raffuchakkar.

Priya married her fellow actor Umesh Kamat in 2021. The duo first met when they were in 10th standard. From being committed at the age of 19 to starring together in films and starting their first theatre production together, the couple spent 14 years together before tying the knot.
