Akshay Kumar’s first heroine Shanthi Priya accuses Akshay of ghosting her when she approached him for work
Actor Shanthi Priya who was Akshay Kumar’s first heroine in film Saugandh, says he ghosted her when she approached him for help when she was trying to make an acting comeback.
Infact, Shanthi Priya, owes her fame to Akshay Kumar as his first on-screen heroine in the 1991 film Saugandh. As per Shanti he is a very ‘hard working’ and ‘disciplined’ human being person. Shanthi featured in over 30 films amid her heyday, but gave up her acting career to focus on family. Later after few years she approached Akshay Kumar for some leads.
Recalling her interaction with Akshay, which took place on the sets of one the film Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty, she said in Bollywood film Thikana the actor was warm, but later ghosted her. Shanthi Priya had sent numerous messages to him, but received no reply.
Her mother was so hurt, that she forbid her from contacting him again. For Shanti the experience was ‘heartbreaking’, and left her convinced that one shouldn’t pin hopes in the film industry.
The actress further went on to add that when she met him on the Holiday set, he was the same Akshay. She had old him that she intends to stage a come back..He asked her how she was doing, how kids were doing. The conversation stretched for half-hour and during his lunch break, he introduced her to Sonakshi, and told her that she was his first heroine. Thereafter, she told him she plans to stage a come back, and to let her know if there’s any good role for her.
She also said that Akshay told her that she still ‘looks the same’, but also gave her a reality check, and told her,
You very well know that you can’t play a heroine, right?” This upset Shanthi Priya. 0o “If you can play a hero, why can’t she play a heroine?” He said that women in the industry aren’t treated the same ‘after marriage’. He also asked why she isn’t trying to find work in the South, but she told him that she is based in Mumbai, and her kids are there as well.
