Rani Mukerji opens up on why she loves to hook-up with new directors

Rani Mukerji was associated with the best new directors. Her recent film Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, was helmed by a new director Ashima Chibber and Rani was heaped with unanimous praises for her performance in the film globally.

She firmly believes that all the newcomers she has worked with in the midst of her journey in Bollywood, have one thing in common. They are always hungry to disrupt and that’s what she loves. It’s the very precise reason why she worked with many new or first time directors. She considers herself to be fortunate to have found them and shared creative energies with them

Rani Mukerji also recalls being ‘petrified’ for wearing short dress in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.

For Rani, her collaboration with first-time directors started since the beginning of her career with Karan Johar on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. At that time he gave the youth of the country relevancy.

Rani further reveals of having worked with Shaad Ali on his first film Saathiya and he too gave her a gem of a film that she feels proud of her filmography! Gopi Puthran is another outstanding director who directed the second instalment of Mardaani.
He created a fiercely independent and courageous woman on-screen and he respect him for doing so because cinema can do a lot to represent women well.”

Rani feels these young, ignited minds have shaped her career in the most incredible manner.
She adds that If you look at the list of new directors that she collaborated with, one will notice how they have contributed in shaping her career, her craft and empowered her to get the love that she got all through her journey in cinema.

She further adds, from stalwarts like Pradeep Sarkar, to a visionary like Kamal Hassan or forward-thinking minds like Siddharth Anand or Raj Kumar Gupta or Reema Kagti, Siddharth P Malhotra and Ashima, working with all these people expanded her horizon as an actor.

While bidding adieu over a parting parting note, Rani expresses that, each of the films directed by them shaped her into the actor that she is as of today and she is very much aware she gave all her heart to these roles too. She is constantly looking for a challenge and new minds pose that in front of her which is why she craves to work with them. She loves how subversive new minds can be. They fuel her with an infectious energy that she thrives on set. She will always look forward for an opportunity to unite with such talents in the years to come.
