Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac appeals for PM Modi’s intervention for team’s participation in Asian Games in China

Ahead of Asian Games in Huangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8
Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac makes an humble appeal and sincere request to Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi and Hon. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, to kindly allow the Indian football team to participate in the Asian games.

The Asian Games was scheduled to be held last
Septmber from10 to 25 2022
but owing to the break of the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to be postponed.

Earlier, the Ministry had underlined that only those team
ranking in the top eight of the continental rankings of their respective sports will be allowed to travel for the Asiad. India are only ranked 18th in Asia and with the Games starting in late September, it is impossible for them to jump into the top eight.

Hence, Stimac made a case for the Indian football team to be included in the contingent for the Asian Games and for which an appeal has been made to PM Modi and the Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.

Even the (AIFF) Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran reveals that an appeal has been made towards the government bodies, to allow the football teams to participate in China in September.
