Heavy rains lashes Mumbai Skymet Weather Team predicts rain crosses July quota
Mumbai City and suburbs has been seeing heavy rains of varied intensity on a continuous basis for the entire month of July. As per weather reports,
Mumbai has already received 937 mm of rain. With this,which the city has already crossed its monthly mean of 919.9 mm.
The reason for the current spell of rains can be attributed to the remnant of the earliest system coming closer. The low pressure is in the Bay of Bengal.
An east-west trough joining these two systems has created a shear zone running across 20°N, from North Madhya Maharashtra to central Odisha.
The shear zone is tilting southward with height.
Mumbai is in the proximity of this zone, which means more rain for the coming days of the month. The Konkan and Goa region has been active with rains of varied intensity being observed over these areas.
On Friday night, there was heavy rains and Mumbaikars woke up to heavy showers.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Ratnagiri has received 75 mm, Harnai 71 mm, Thane 48 mm, Goa 76 mm, and Mumbai’s Santa Cruz 29 mm.
Today Saturday, the day.has begun with slightly heavy showers. In the half hour rain from 9.00 am till 10.30 am the western suburbs witnessed heavy rain resulting in Waterlogging in Andheri Goregaon and Malad West. Weather Bureau predicts some rains to continue over Mumbai. Whereas Other parts of Konkan may see some showers as well. On Sunday more rains is expected and in Konkan rain will be slightly heavier.
