Heavy rain lashes Mumbai City and suburbs Orange alert for city continues till 27 July
Relentless heavy rain lashed Mumbai City and suburbs on Wednesday, hampering movement of traffic, but, services on both western and central local Train, Lifeline of the Mumbaikars, remained normal with slight delays.
The weather bureau has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts for Thursday predicting heavy to very heavy ra infall at a few places,
The magnitude of rain was more in the suburbs in the morning hours while the island city received intermittent heavy showers in the afternoon. Andheri subway, an underpass between Andheri and Jogeshwari railway stations, was closed for traffic a couple of times since morning due to waterlogging, but other areas in the metropolis didn’t report any major inundation during the day.
Maharashtra’s Thane city has received a total of 2002.81 mm rainfall in just two months of the current monsoon season, up around 39 per cent in the same period last year, said the local civic body on Wednesday.
Orange alert for Mumbai, Thane & Palghar continues indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall.
As per the weather department Mumbai received heavy rainfall from 8.30am on July 25 to 8.30am on July 26.
According to TV reports, key Andheri Subway has been closed for traffic movement.

Vihar and Tansa lakes overflow after heavy rains
In the wake of heavy rains over the last few days, the Tansa and Vihar lakes, the key sources of potable water for Mumbai, started overflowing on Wednesday.
Out of the seven reservoirs that supply water to Mumbai, the Vihar, Tansa and Tulsi lakes have overflown so far.
The Vihar lake, located in Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park, overflowed at 12.48am, while the Tansa lake, located in neighbouring Thane district, overflowed at 4.35am on Wednesday,
