Lt General (Retd) Sanjay Kulkarni terms Rahul Gandhi’s claims on India-China border dispute incorrect,
Lt General (Retd) Sanjay Kulkarni goes against Rahul Gandhi’s claim of India losing land to China, and warns it could hinder diplomatic efforts.
Rahul Gandhi had stated that PM Narendra Modi’s assertion of China not having claimed a single inch of the Indian territory was incorrect.
The comment comes amid Rahul Gandhi contradicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance, asserting the encroachment by the Chinese PLA’s.
The contradiction arose while Rahul Gandhi was paying tribute to his father and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 79th birth anniversary in Ladakh.
Kulkarni countered Gandhi asserting that since 1950, India has lost around 40,000 square km to China and “our endeavour is that we do not lose any more of our territory to China.
Kulkarni notes that India-China military talks continues due to friction at Demchok and Depsang, where patrolling restrictions are concentrated, creating negotiation points.
The Indiam Army veteran further asserted that to say we have lost will be incorrect and none should make statements when talks are in progress.
Meanwhile, as per Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravishankar Prasad “Do anything, but why do try to lower the morale of India’s security forces”?
Further, highlighting the condition under the Modi government, Prasad added that as of today, under Modi government, roads and bridges from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh, are coming up and helping army vehicles to navigate fast on different routes.
Rahul Gandhi’s statement comes days after the Indian Army and the Chinese PLA held the 19th round of military dialogue to cool tensions in the Ladakh sector. The two sides held major-general level talks to chalk out outstanding problems along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), and that the officials are aware of the matter.
