Nana Patekar comments on end of superstardom era, reminisces Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor:
Shah Rukh Khan had made a bold statement in the Anupam Kher Show, by terming himself, “Last of the stars.”as he felt that the super-stardom, and the craze for an actor has been quite debatable, especially
following the boom of social media, and OTT.
Now it’s the turn of Veteran actor Nana Patekar who also shared his thoughts over the end of the superstardom era, and how the value, craze, and fan following of stars transformed within a week.
In the midst of promoting his upcoming film “The Vaccine War” with the media, Nana Patekar reminisced the late acting legends, and superstars’ whose stardom remains intact..look at the stars we had, can’t forget late Yusuf saab, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand as we still remember them.Nana made a big remark on today’s actors, and their questionable stardom, and asserted that nowadays stardom is measured by box office figures. The actor said, that as of today, stardom lasts for a week and these are all mere figures.
In the same conversation, Nana opened up on OTT, and how artistes like him have been given a platform to showcase their talent. Nana asserted that upon the emergence of OTT, many stars like him, who are not ‘quintessential heroes’ are getting opportunities to showcase their talent.
We didn’t get our chance that time. Actors with average looks like him, Om Puri, Irrfan, Manoj Bajpayee, and Raghubir Yadav didn’t get their chance.
But now with the emergence of OTT, we have a stage, where we can showcase our talents and make people accept us.
Moreover, after the emergence of OTT, the artistes have another medium after theatre and cinema to showcase their talents.
