Zarina Wabab opens up on her association and experiences in working with Dev Anand
Zarina Wahab needs no introduction. She had made her acting debut with Dev Anand’s Ishq Ishq Ishq.
In the backdrop of Dev Anand’s centenary year, Zarina recalls spending time with Dev Anand on the set and shares, that she played one of the sisters of Zeenat Aman ji in the film.
Having worked Working with Dev Saab she never had any feeling that she was sharing screen with a legendary actor. He was very humble and never treated her like a new comer or a struggler.
And that’s what she appreciated the most about him. He would look at everyone as equal. He was a man of class.
On any advice by the legendary actor that stayed with her, Zarina reveals that he was someone who never gave an advice. But when he met her for the first time, he merely gave a look at her and it was enough for him to decide that she was very photogenic and would look great on camera. She told him to have a look at her pictures to which he denied saying he dorsn’t have to see it’. Because according to him she was very new, and at that spur of moment.she felt bad, but she realised that how much he liked her. He was also the director of the film and directors of that era they had camera in their eyes. . These days we have to do many screen tests, auditions. He had confidence that she would be good and that confidence of him in her made her to be confident in this industry. It was like someone has her back here,
She calls him someone “who was unique…different from others.” She adds, “He was extremely passionate and active on the set. After a scene was done and we all were expected to move to another set, hum toh tayyari hi karte reh jaate the aur wo location par pahuch bhi jaate the. From his personality to his working style to the kind of work he has done, it cannot be replicated. I really miss him and feel lucky that I was introduced to the industry by him.
