Ratna Pathak Shah urges for good roles for Waheeda Rehman ; they honour her and push her into one corner

Ratna Pathak Shah says she didn’t have any predecessors who could instil in her the confidence that a woman actor like her could work for the rest of her life.

It’s a well-known fact that
Ratna Pathak Shah often bats for fellow senior female actors who were not offered worthy roles.

Over an interview Ratna has now made everyone turn their attention to Waheeda Rehman. claiming that the ecosystem is content giving the 85-year-old actor an award, but not a role of her potential.

What Ratna says:
When she sees a Meryl Streep (74) and a Helen Mirren (78), she feels if they can do it, so can she. And Ratna feels sorry that a Waheeda Rehman in our country doesn’t get the roles that she deserves. She is such a fabulous woman, and a fabulous actress. And all they want to do is to honor her with a little award and push her into one corner. She needs to be offered a good role that leaves an indelible mark.

Earlier this year, Ratna has batted for fellow actor Deepti Naval, who didn’t get the kind of roles she deserved over the years.
Deepti was last seen as Kalki Koechlin’s mother in Pushan Kripalani’s Goldfish earlier this year.

Waheeda Rehman was last seen in The Song of Scorpion, which released in Indian cinemas earlier this year.
Recently, she was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

All of us have had to come to terms with the way we look. And the fact that your body is changing. The most revealing thing to her, as stupid as it seems considering who her mother was (Dina Pathak), that she thought acting has a shelf life, as a woman. That she will act until she is pretty, and then she will do something else.
Ratna can’t imagine that she hought like that, but she did Ratna said in the same interview.

She will be next seen in Dhak Dhak, which releases in cinemas this Friday on October 13, as a Punjabi biker.
