Vivek Agnihotri bags Nargis Dutt Award for ‘The Kashmir Files at 69th National Film Awards – opens up on KJo style of filmmaking
It’s quite obvious that Vivek Agnihotri and Karan Johar two filmmakers have completely different styles of cinema.
In fact, Vivek had once quoted that he finds Karan Johar’s cinema ‘superficial’ and thinks it serves no purpose in the society.
In the midst of this, on Tuesday, 17 October, at the 69th National Awards in the capital Vivek’s directorial ‘The Kashmir Files’ won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration while on the other hand, Karan Johar was also at the ceremony, to accept the Special Jury Award for Shershaah, a film he had produced.
No sooner he was honoured with the award for his film Vivek took to his X handle to share some group pics from the ceremony, however, it seemed like that he cropped Karan Johar out of them. He also posted pics with all the women winners including Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon.
Vivek Agnihotri recently opened up about how he is a changed man now and how it has also transformed his ideologies and his approach to cinema. He was a self-confessed leftist for several years but he has now been vocal about his pro-right political views over the past few years.
In the midst of his chat to an entertainment portal, Vivek said that he doesn’t get bothered by trolls who dig out his old tweets and accuse him of being a hypocrite. He wants to send them a packet of chocolates and thank them since it assures him that he is changing.
He went on to say that when you meet him for Delhi Files in 2024 or 2025, if he still says the same things, then shame on him. He cannot live a life where he doesn’t change every day. For him each day is a new day with changed things. He doesn’t want to live a static life.
The filmmaker also mentioned that his approach to cinema has also changed a lot with experience and age. Adding that this is the first time that he has travelled across India and saw the country as a filmmaker. He realised that there are so many stories that nobody has ever told and feels that it is the biggest crime filmmakers have committed in the country.
He even went on to say that Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan’s cinema has damaged the cultural fabric of India in a very disastrous way and felt that it was important to tell real and honest stories, which according to him have stopped after Amitabh Bachchan’s Shehanshah.
