Junior Balaiah renowned tamil actor moves to immortality at 70 at his Chennai home
Renowned Tamil actor Junior Balaiah breathed his last on Thursday morning at his Chennai of asphyxiation.
His last rites was performed in the evening on Thursday.
Junor Balaiah born as Raghu Balaiah is the son of leading Tamil actor TS Balaiah.
Born in 1983, Balaiah has acted in some plays before he got into the movies. He is most recognised for films like ‘Karakatakkaran’, ‘Gopura Vasalile’ and ‘Sundarakandam’.
In the year 1975 he made his debut with the Tamil film ‘Melnaattu Marumagal’ and has featured in several films in his career over forty years largely portraying supporting characters.
Notably, he had shared screen space with thespian Shivaji Ganeshan in Tyagam and also as one of Kamal Haasan’s friend in Havbe Mayam.
In the 2010s, Balaiah made rare appearances in films and won acclaim for his portrayal of a headmaster in Saattai (2012). He appeared in four films in 2015 including ‘Thani Oruvan’ and ‘Puli’. In 2014, Balaiah revealed his intentions of becoming a film producer to launch his son’s acting career.
Besides cinema, Junior Balaiah has also acted in serials including ‘Chithi’, ‘Vazhkai’ and ‘Chinna Papa Periya Papa’.
He had played an important role in Ajith’s ‘Nerkonda Parvai’ and the last film he acted in was in 2021’s ‘Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam’.
