Infosys Co-founder N R Narayana Murthy’s remarks of 70-hour week triggered a debate with many entrepreneurs also weighing in with their opinions.

Ever since Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy remarked that youngsters in India should work 70 hours a week, it has triggered a debate with many entrepreneurs also weighing in with their opinions.

Now, actor and entrepreneur Suniel Shetty has also responded to Murthy’s remarks on LinkedIn on Wednesday.

Taking to his social media account Suniel wrote that the way he sese things, when a man, the size of
Narayana Murthy, adding that something, you listen carefully, analyse for yourself & take the best out of it.

He also said although, it is a contentious issue, it’s important to stop and think what the Infosys co-founder really meant. Shetty said for him, it wasn’t about the number of hours but it was about going “beyond your comfort zone”.

“Take Virat Kohli in cricket, Bachchan from the movies, Ratan Tata from business or Abdul Kalam from science.

All leading examples of individuals who excelled in their respective fields,” he added.
He cited their example as going beyond their comfort zones to excel in their chosen fields.

He further wrote that why he sees Murthy’s statement for what it was really trying to convey, is because he believes that young adults should spend their earliest years pushing their boundaries.

The actor continued further if he could change something about his 20s, it would be putting in more hours on learning more even though he started working at 17.

And this coming from someone who was working full time by age 17, didn’t socialise much as he was manning the restaurants on most nights of the week including weekends & especially during festivals, and yet managed to maintain his fitness routines.

Meanwhile, a user commented that coming out of comfort zone is important. However,
It is only possible if you love the work you do. If you crib over a job, no matter how much hard work you put in, it will feel like burden only. It’s important to make right career choice.

Many engineers are engineers today because family or society’s pressure!
