Notedly, the BJP high command was quick enough spot the red flags like the localised rebellions against the first list that fielded a number of sitting MPs. But, one question lingers and that is any possibility for her to become Rajasthan CM
incase BJP emerges victorious?
Reportedly, the BJP’s second list accommodated nearly 30 of her loyalists and Vasundhara was herself allocated her traditional seat of Jhalrapatan.
With ticket knots finally over, Vasundhara Raje appears to have staged a remarkable resurgence in Rajasthan.
Towards end-September, the BJP high command seemed in no mood to humour the only woman Chief Minister of the desert state. However, by early-November, her fortunes saw a huge turnaround and Raje’s strong comeback is now one of the most talked-about aspects of the poll battle in Rajasthan.
Regardlesd being the BJP’s tallest leader in terms of charisma, mass appeal and grassroots connect, Raje was sought to be sidelined by the saffron brigade ever since they lost the 2018 elections.
Her marginalisation, notedly, with the blessings of the BJP top brass, seemed complete by end-September and early October.
Notwithstanding badly ignored in a few rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Raje seemed on the verge of political oblivion.
When the first list of 41 BJP candidates came out on October 9 and didn’t feature any of her favourites, it sparked a big speculation, that Raje was being decisively sidelined.
With seven MPs being fielded and a number of Raje loyalists denied tickets (especially her close confidantes, Rajpal Singh and Narpat Singh Rajvi), it led to a perception that Raje was finally being cut-to-size by the party’s top leadership.
