Kareena Kapoor ends feud with Sanjay Leela Bhansali claims of a chance to work with him
On Koffee With Karan 8, Kareena Kapoor gave an hint over putting am end to the feud with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The actress voiced that she still has a chance to work with him
Kareena Kapoor Khan is one such actresses who managed to work with almost every top filmmaker in her illustrious career spanning over two decades. Be it Karan Johar, Vishal Bhardwaj, or Reema Kagti, she collaborated with the best to create unique stories for the silver screen.
Regardless being on top of every director and producer’s list, Kareena is yet to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
In the past, Kareena did the look test for the role of Paro in Sanjay’s Devdas. However, she wasn’t chosen for the role. The character eventually was played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the rest is history.
Notedly, Kareena expressed her disappointment and vowed to never work with the maverick filmmaker.
In the midst of the rapid-fire round, Karan Johar asked her who was a better Sanjay Leela Bhansali muse among Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Alia, who was with Kareena in the episode, said, “Please don’t say my name. Just take anybody else’s name.” Kareena answered the question and said, “I still have a chance to work with Bhansali.
Over one of an old interview Kareena vowed never to work with him. “I’ll never. What he did to her was wrong. He screen-tested her for Devdas, gave gave her a signing amount, then took someone else. That was wrong, it hurt especially because she was at the start of her career. It’s okay, because the day he dropped, she signed Yaadein. Sanjay hurt her. Even if she has no work, she will never work with him.
Sanjay reacted to the claim and shared, “She came to his house with Neeta Lulla and said she wanted to work with him and he told her that he hadn’t seen her work and that before casting her, he needed to see what she was capable of. We fixed up a photo shoot with the right costumes. Since Babitaji and Karisma Kapoor were also at the shoot, he made it clear to all of them that the shoot wasn’t a confirmation that he would cast Kareena. They were okay with that at the time. After going through the photographs, he told Kareena that he felt Aishwarya Rai was fabulous and perfect for Paro; she has the aristocratic looks he required. Kareena didn’t say a word then but some days later he found her lashing out at him in print. She accused him of backing out after having given her the signing amount and contract. Believe me, this is not true. She also said he didn’t know how to make films.
Kareena was selected for Goliyon Ki Raas Leela Ram Leela with Ranveer Singh. However, at the last minute, the actress opted out of the film and Deepika Padukone was chosen to play the role of Leela.
Kareena ventured into OTT with Sujoy Ghosh’s film, Jaane Jaan. Her next films are The Buckingham Murders and Singham Again.
