FM Nirmala Sitharaman meets Mohammed Siraj after India’s World Cup final debacle
In a rare gesture Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met and greeted India pacer Mohammed Siraj was greeted at the Hyderabad airport after India’s debacle in the ODI World Cup final on Sunday 19 November at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After nearly 48 hours following a heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the Grand-Finale of the 2023 ODI World Cup, several Indian cricketers made their way back to their hometowns for a much needed break, after a rigorous schedule that saw them travel the length and breadth of the country to face the best teams in the world.
Pacer Mohammed Siraj, who was spotted sobbing after India’s loss on Sunday, returned to Hyderabad where he was congratulated by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the airport. Infact, even PM Modi had comforted the India Team at the dressing room of Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The post saw many comments from users, who heaped praises on Sitharaman for meeting the pacer and congratulating him for his performances in the World Cup.
Notedly such nice gestures, especially coming from the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will cheer up sports person from inside and take him to great levels of grit and determination to outperform.

Siraj took 14 wickets in 11 matches at the tournament at an economy rate of 5.68 and was part of a formidable new ball attack that ran through oppositions right through the group stages of the tournament.
