Notedly, Ranbir Kapoor has been headlining ever since the release of his recent film, ‘Animal.’ Regardless good collection at the box office, ironically, the film has garnered mixed opinions and reviews from critics and fans.
In the midst of this, a Reddit user resurfaced an old video featuring Ranbir discussing his considerations regarding the image he projects through his films.
In his recent interaction with the media he addressed queries on collaborating with Luv Ranjan on ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,’ recognised for films steeped in misogyny, and the concerns that might come along if he associates with such projects.
He responds, saying, that he has not been part of those films and that he works with a director has made a misogynistic film. But he is quite conscious with the kind of parts he does. It’s not a part where it’s belittling society, belittling something which he feels is unfair and he wouldn’t do it.
He added that because understanding the position he is in, he has to be conscious and needs to be aware, that he has to represent a certain value system that he wants to express. So film with Luv Ranjan is not that, that you talk about.
No sooner the video went viral, people on the internet called Kapoor a hypocrite. Reacting to the post, a user said, “All talk goes in drain in front of money!!” while another said, “He’s a hypocrite. As simple as that. He needed a big hit and he was always ready to compromise the so-called principles he said he had in this interview. Moreover, I never took him as any kind of principled artist.”
A third one commented, “He didn’t even have the guts to accept that his Animal character is a psychopath, just called him a guy protecting his family. I can’t decide if he is dumb or sinister or both.”
As far as his upcoming projects are concerned, Ranbir Kapoor has ‘Brahmastra’ Part II and III lined up, opposite Alia Bhatt, and directed by Ayan Mukerji.
