Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi opens up on “PM Narendra Modi” biopic
Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi opens up on PM Narendra Modi biopic attributing that his he actor son Vivek Oberoi’s work in the PM Narendra Modi biopic impressed him to a great extent.
But, he adds that, ironically, the film was impacted by interferences, leading to the film being “badly edited”.
He also went on to reveal in the midst of the interview that at the beginning of Vivek’s career, he ‘interfered’ with his film choices and struggled with Ram Gopal Varma to get him cast in Company, Vivek’s debut Hindi movie.
The Omung Kumar directorial, “PM Narendra Modi” was scripted by Anirudh Chawla and Vivek Oberoi, essayed the titular role. The biopic released in 2019 proved a debacle at the box-office. Suresh Oberoi had also featured in the biopic.
In his media interaction Suresh Oberoi also revealed that several people “disallowed” many scenes resulting to the film’s narrative getting impacted in being a disjointed product.
He further went on to elaborate that Vivek no doubt put up a flawless performance and he liked him a lot in the film.
In a lot of places in the film he thought he was PM Modi himself. He put in very hard work for the film and whoever was asked, would say they have seen the film, would heap praises on how it is made, its performances but it wasn’t being reflected in terms of collections.
Notably, PM Narendra Modi was Vivek’s last big screen outing, before he transitioned to streaming platforms. While the film was yet another box-office disappointment for Vivek, the veteran actor said his son’s career has been good.
Suresh further added that Vivek’s career was good. It soared, then descended.
Now he is back on (OTT) platform and is doing very well. He always wanted to do business and acting. He runs a lot of businesses, he is passionate about it.
Opening up on how Vivek got a role in the 2002 film Company, Suresh Oberoi narrated, that Ram Gopal Varma was making Company and asked him if he had some work of Vivek to show him. He said, ‘Yes, he has and the twosome went to Suresh’s home and there the filmmaker started shouting after watching Vivek’s video.
He said, “Give me Rs 10”. When the actor gave it to him, Varma gave it to Vivek and said, ‘You are doing his film.
