In the midst of one of the segments on the popular show, Sharmila made a shocking mention on her cancer and that she had rejected ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’
Did you know that Shabana Azmi’s part in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ was first offered to Sharmila Tagore? Well, the secret was revealed on the latest episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 8’ where the film’s director and show host Karan shared his regret of not being able to work with the legendary actor.
Amidst the episode, KJo revealed he had offered Sharmila the role of Alia Bhatt’s grandmother. The character was apparently played by Shabana Azmi. Sharmila was his very first choice. Due to health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes, but it is a regret he has.
While talking over the opportunity and why she rejected the same, Sharmila mentioned that this was at the height of Covid. They hadn’t really scuffled with Covid at that time and didn’t know the vaccine and we were not vaccinated after her cancer.
So, they didn’t want her to take that risk.
This is for the first time Sharmila mentioned her battle with cancer.
Well, the Veteran actress has primarily contributed to Hindi and Bengali cinema.
Her marriage to cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi took place in 1968, however. U
unfortunately, her Mansoor passed away in 2011.
