A trend has emerged wherein Bollywood Celebrities have
not just limited their prowess to the silver screen but have extended their influence into sports, productively cricket, marking their presence as prominent team owners and made cricket a business.
Now it’s Indian Street Premier League (ISPL).

On Wednesday, Kareena Kapoor Khan Saif Ali Khan announced their ownership of the Kolkata Team in the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL)

The organisers of the league claim to be “India’s pioneering tennis ball T10 cricket tournament and to be played inside a stadium.

Taking to her Instagram account, Kareena announced that Cricket, a tradition we cherish, a love we share…. It runs in the family after all. So thrilled to announce our ownership of Team Kolkata in the Indian Street Premier League! It’s a fantastic opportunity for young aspiring cricketers out there and we couldn’t be happier to be part of this experience.

The ISPL Organizers in a statement revealed that the
Pataudi legacy shines with this collaboration as Saif Ali Khan’s father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was a famous Indian cricketer and Indian cricket team former captain.

The Pataudi family also has a special connection to Kolkata with Saif Ali Khan’s mother, Sharmila Tagore being the great-great-grandniece of India’s and West Bengal’s most beloved icon, Rabindranath Tagore.

The ISPL has a wide array of owners. Some of the celebrities who own a team in the league besides Akshay Kumar are Amitabh Bachchan(Mumbai) Hrithik Roshan (Bengaluru), Suriya (Chennai), and Ram Charan (Hyderabad).

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan said are thrilled to embark on this incredible journey with the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL).

The partnership with ISPL symbolizes both their love for cricket and the vibrant spirit of the City of Joy. Kolkata holds a special place in their hearts with their family’s legacy and connection to the state.

As per Advocate and BJP Chief Mumbai Ashish Shelar, Core Committee Member, Indian Street Premier League, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s entry into ISPL marks a pivotal moment for the league. Their passion for the game and iconic stature will inspire Kolkata’s aspiring cricketers, encouraging their enthusiastic participation in this tournament. Owing Indian Premier League started with Shah Rukh Khan, who besides owning his film production company Red Chillies Entertainment also holds stakes in one of his major investments, the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Later it was Akshay Kumar who owns Srinagar team in the T10 Cricket Tournament and the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) followed by Preity Zinta who is the co-owner of the IPL team Punjab Kings along with Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, and Karan Paul and Juhi Chawla who is a close friend and business partner of Shah Rukh Khan invested in the ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’ along with him.
